Cleaning Your Nebulizer

Cleaning your nebulizer helps to prevent infections by getting rid of germs.
Cleaning you nebulizer helps it last longer by preventing it from clogging up.

Clean the Nebulizer After Each Use

  • Remove the mask/ mouthpiece and T-shaped part from the cup.
  • Do not wash or rinse the tubing.
  • Rinse the mask/mouth piece and T-shaped part back together.
  • Connect it to the nebulizer and run the machine for 10-20 seconds to dry the inside of the nebulizer.
  • Disconnect the tubing from the machine.
  • Store the nebulizer and shake out the let over medications.
  • Put a cover over the machine.

Clean Once Every Day

  • Wash and mask/mouthpiece and T-shaped part with a mild dish washing soap and warm water once every day (rinse with warm water only, all other times).
  • Rinse under a strong stream of water for 30 seconds.

Clean Once or Twice a Week

  • Soak the mask/mouthpiece and T-shaped part in a solution of one part vinegar and two parts distilled water, for 30 minutes. Then throw away the vinegar solution.
  • Rinse the parts under warm running water for one minute.
  • Wipe the surface of the machine with a damp, soapy cloth or sponge, alcohol wipe of disinfectant wipe.
  • Never put the compressed air machine in water.
